Holiday gathering to light up the season

GULFPORT— City officials and community leaders will gather at City Hall next week for the annual lighting of the city’s Christmas tree and the unveiling of the Captain Hardy monument during a holiday open house.

Arrive early because the city plans to rededicate the newly renovated City Hall during the event, which is set to begin at 4:45 p.m., Monday, in the Rose Garden.

The monument of Capt. William Hardy, the founder of Gulfport, has been restored and will be forever placed in the garden.

Santa arrives at 5:15 p.m. and holiday refreshments will be served in the City Council chambers on the second floor of City Hall.

Happy Holidays
