Civil Service Commission
The purpose of the Commission is to provide a functional, orderly and uniform system for the administration of Civil Service in compliance with the duties of the Commission and the coverage afforded by the Mississippi Civil Service.
The Commission is a seven-member board representing each Ward. The Commission is appointed by the Mayor, with each member serving a six-year term.
The Civil Service Commission hears appeals from disciplinary actions, testing and certifying individuals in for competitive service positions, and managing and maintaining civil service records.
