Ronnie Hebert Spirit of Gulfport Scholarship awarded

Tevin Brown

GULFPORT - City Council President Ricky Dombrowski last night presented the third annual Ronnie Hebert Spirit of Gulfport Scholarship to Tevin Brown, a senior at Gulfport High School.

"I am confident you will find that the recipient of this year¹s scholarship exhibits all that Ronnie believed in," Dombrowski said of Brown during the Gulfport High Senior Awards Night. "This year¹s recipient is a leader among his peers. He achieved a 4.0 while maintaining a full, rigorous academic schedule, as well as being involved in numerous extracurricular activities."

Brown was selected to be on the GHS Principal's Leadership Team, Beta Club vice president, member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. He was named Defensive Player of the Year for his performance on the basketball court, received the Sportsmanship Award for track and has given countless hours of service to his community.

His fellow students elected him Mr. Gulfport High this year as well as prom king. He also was inducted into the Gulfport High School Hall of Fame. Brown plans to attend the University of Mississippi in the fall.

"No one loved Gulfport more than Ronnie Hebert. Even if you didn¹t know his name, you knew him by his infectious smile and couldn¹t miss him waving his white towel at every Gulfport athletic event," Dombrowski said. "There is no doubt that Ronnie would be very proud tonight."
