Gulfport Fire Department Honor Guard/Pipes & Drums Corp.
Mission: The Mission of the Gulfport Fire Department Honor Guard/Pipes & Drums Corp. shall be to promote the Gulfport Fire Department, the firefighters of Mississippi, and the fire service as a whole. To provide, as a line of duty death benefit, dignified, honorable services for fallen members and their surviving family members.
Family, Honor, Respect, Compassion
Family: The families of our fallen are the reason that we exist. It is our job to care for them and assist them through their time of need.
Honor: It is the core value of any Honor Guard. Everything we do should be done honorably.
Respect: Respect for the family and what they are going through for our fellow Brothers and Sisters.
Compassion: We have to have compassion as a member of an Honor Guard, for the families and the members of the department that have suffered a great loss.
The Gulfport Fire Department Honor Guard/Pipes & Drums Corp. is in existence to honor and remember those firefighters who have died in the Line of Duty. Our Motto is: “We strive to honor firefighters in life, as well as death, and to exhibit the best possible image to the entire community. Representing every member, past & present of the Gulfport Fire Department, I vow to stand sharp, crisp and motionless, for I am the Honor Guard”.
The Gulfport Fire Department Honor Guard/Pipes & Drums Corp. has been called upon to assist other departments from across the country to prepare, organize and participate in honoring a fallen member. It has been with great honor that we have been afforded the opportunity to help other Honor Guards in their time of need.

Family asked for firefighters to send their daughter Vickie letters to help cheer her up. Doctors have diagnosed Vickie with severe atopic dermatitis, which is a severe case of eczema. The Gulfport Fire Department Pipes and Drums answered the request today but with a surprise visit. After knocking on the door Vickie’s Mom Karen helped her outside where the Honor Guard played a few tunes and made Vickie an honorary member. It was a great feeling to see the big smiles. Vickie even played a few tunes herself. Continued prayers are needed in Vickie’s recovery.
