Mission Statement

The Gulfport Police Department shall faithfully serve all people within our community with dignity, equality, compassion, and respect. It is our fundamental goal to enhance the quality of life by providing a safe and secure community for all citizens. We shall honor the sacred public trust by adhering to the highest possible standards of performance and ethics. We will be a resource to the community for the education, safety, and welfare of all people. We are committed to the prevention of crime and the preservation of peace. We will honor that pledge through respect for human dignity and a strong ethical code as custodians of law and order. All members of the Gulfport Police Department will exercise the highest degree of public service in their daily contacts with our citizens in order to provide them with the most effective and efficient service they so richly deserve. The Gulfport Police Department believes that a comprehensive and consistent law enforcement presence, with the tools and capability to deal with unique policing problems, must be maintained. "The closer a police officer’s relationship is with the public on his beat, the more people he knows, and the more people trust him, the greater his chance of reducing crime."
