On August 14, 2008 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Lt. Rob Curry was enroute to a funeral escort when a vehicle pulled out in front of him while driving north on Highway 49, causing fatal injuries.  Lieutenant Curry was thirty-nine years old at the time of his death and is survived by his wife, who is also a Lt. with the Gulfport Police Department, a daughter and son.
