The Athletic Division of the Leisure Services Department is using its proven history to embark in a very promising future. The addition of the new state-of-the-art Gulfport Sportsplex is a positive sign in the belief of the growth and importance of the Athletic division to both the Department and the citizens of the Gulf Coast.
The Athletic Division has shown through its diverse programming that it is committed to servicing everyone’s needs. The Department of Leisure Services offers and supports youth programs such as: basketball, softball, volleyball, racquetball, and Tackle Football. Gulfport Leisure Services also participates in various nationally sponsored programs including NFL Flag Football.

Football
- Pee Wee Tackle Football League: Season runs from September to November for children ages 10 -12 years old. Child CANNOT be 13 prior to September 1 to be eligible). No participants in grades higher then (6th) will be allowed to participate in this league. Games will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Gulfport Track Facility or Milner Stadium at 6:00pm & 7:00pm. Registration begins in mid- August. All first year participants must bring a copy of their BIRTH CERTIFICATE to registration for verification.
- Pee Wee Flag Football League: Season runs from September to November for boys and girls ages 6-8 & 9-11 years old. Child must be 6 prior to September 1 and CANNOT be 12 prior to September 1 to be eligible. Games are played on Tuesday & Thursday evenings at the Soccer Fields located at the Gulfport Sportsplex off I-10 and Canal Road in Gulfport. Game times are 6pm & 7pm. Registration begins in mid- August. All first year participants must bring a copy of their BIRTH CERTIFICATE to registration for verification.
- Adult Flag Football League: Season runs from August to November for adults ages 18 & up. Games are played on Tuesday & Thursday evenings at the Soccer Fields located at the Gulfport Sportsplex off I-10 and Canal Road in Gulfport. Game times are 7pm, 8pm & 9pm.
Basketball
- Pee Wee Basketball League: Registration occurs in November and the season runs from January to March. Games are played Monday through Thursday at 5:30pm, 6:30pm & 7:30pm and Saturday 9:30am – 3:30pm at various gymnasiums throughout Gulfport. Boys and Girls age divisions are: 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 years old. Child must be 7 prior to January 1 and cannot be 13 prior to January 1 to be eligible. Any boys / girls participating on their school 7th – 12th grade team is INELIGIBLE to participate in this league.
- Youth Basketball League: Registration occurs in March and the season runs through June. Games are played Monday through Thursday at 6pm, 7pm & 8pm at various gymnasiums throughout Gulfport. Boys & Girls 13-14 years old. Child CANNOT be 15 prior to January 1 to be eligible. Any boys / girls participating on their middle school 7th / 8th grade team are ELIGIBLE to participate only in the 13-14 year old division. Any boys / girls participating on their school 9th – 12th grade team is INELIGIBLE to participate in this league.
- Adult Basketball League: Registration begins in February and the season runs from March to June. Games are played Monday through Thursday evenings at 6pm, 7pm, & 8pm at various gymnasiums throughout Gulfport. Age Divisions are 18 & up.
- Annual MS Gulf Coast 18 & under Boy’s All-Star Tournament: Registration starts in April and the tournament is held in May for boys 18 & under.
