A City-Wide Initiative for a Brighter, Cleaner Community
From April 19 to May 16, 2024, we’re uniting our community for a comprehensive clean-up initiative across all seven wards of Gulfport. We invite you to participate in this important effort to enhance the beauty and health of our environment.
How the Clean-Up Works
- All trash must be located in the city’s right-of-way in green trash bags by each Monday morning, based upon the trash pick-up schedule.
- Volunteers will work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and place in green trash before trash pick-up week.
- Once a street has been cleared of trash bags and marked completed, work crews will NOT return to it.
- Dumpsters will be placed in each Ward according to the schedule, and residents are allowed to dispose of trash or debris in them.
- H2O will continue to pick up trash/debris piles using the regular weekly schedule.

Get Involved
- Each ward will be required to designate a “Ward Leader” (preferably one person) to coordinate all cleanup efforts. The leader will be responsible for recruiting volunteers (or sub-teams), coordinating division leaders, documenting all aspects of the event, and coordinating with the Public Works Department Event Representative, Aaron James, who can be contacted at (228) 236-5312 or ajames@gulfport-ms.gov.
- The City is also looking to have “Division Leaders” who will work with various small and large businesses, churches, schools, civic organizations, etc., to address areas of concern to each group.
